ABOUT
RITA LYSTRÖM
Rita Lyström is the artist and owner of Blood Eagle Tattoo in Holmen, Wisconsin. She has been tattooing professionally since 2014.
Before tattooing, Rita studied Studio Fine Art at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, building a foundation in drawing, composition, color, and traditional studio art. That background still shapes the way she approaches tattoo design today.
Her work is especially influenced by illustrative, abstract, and painterly styles, and she enjoys projects that leave room for creativity and interpretation. She is also a versatile artist and works comfortably across a wide range of styles, from small, straightforward tattoos to larger custom pieces.
Rita’s approach is collaborative and relaxed. She takes the work seriously without taking herself too seriously. Some appointments are quiet and focused, some involve a lot of laughing, and others somehow end up in deep philosophical conversations. There is no required level of tattoo knowledge or coolness to walk through the door.

BLOOD EAGLE TATTOO
Rita opened Blood Eagle Tattoo in August 2024 after moving with her family from the Rice Lake area to the La Crosse area, where her daughter was beginning school.
After years of working in the tattoo industry, opening Blood Eagle gave her the opportunity to create a space that reflected how she prefers to work: private, focused, and one-on-one.
Blood Eagle is a private, appointment-only tattoo studio in Holmen, Wisconsin. Each appointment is given dedicated time without the constant traffic and interruptions of a walk-in shop.
The studio itself is intentionally clean, controlled, and uncluttered. Sterile where it matters, relaxed everywhere else. The goal is to provide a professional environment where clients can settle in, ask questions, listen to music, talk, zone out, or simply let Rita work.
Rita also occasionally travels for guest spots and enjoys opportunities to work alongside other tattoo artists.
OUTSIDE THE STUDIO
Outside of tattooing, Rita spends most of her time with family, making art, getting outside when she can, and maintaining a perhaps unnecessary level of enthusiasm for birds.
She is naturally curious, a little goofy, and prone to wandering into conversations about art, nature, life, and whatever strange subject happens to come up that day.
