To Prepare For Your Appointment

What you should do prior to your appointment
  • Get adequate sleep the night before.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Do not arrive intoxicated to your appointment.
  • Unless prescribed, avoid taking blood-thinning medications or supplements right before your appointment, such Aspirin, NSAIDs, Fish Oil, and Vitamin E. Do not stop taking prescribed medications without consulting with your physician.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol or excessive amounts of caffeine (a cup of coffee in the morning should not complicate the procedure).
  • Avoid tanning, waxing or anything that might discolor or irritate the skin in the area that will be tattooed.
  • Do not work out right before your appointment.
  • Eat a balanced meal and stay hydrated.
  • Please shower and use deodorant, but go easy on any cologne or perfume.
  • Only apply numbing agents that have been tested and approved by safety standards, doing otherwise can negatively impact the tattooing process as well as healing. Please inform your artist prior to exploring these options, certain products can change the viscosity of the skin and impact the overall procedure.
  • Please wear clean, comfortable clothing that you do not mind possibly getting ink on. If you tend to feel cold, you may want to bring a light jacket, sweatshirt or blanket.
  • Feel free to bring snacks, meals or beverages.  You are also welcome to order delivery.
  • You are welcome to bring headphones, music or a book.
  • Payment is due at each session, so remember to bring your wallet.  Cash is the preferred method of payment but we do accept credit, debit and other forms of digital transfer. We do not accept paper checks.
  • If you have children or pets, make arrangements for someone to look after them somewhere else during your appointment. Children and pets are not allowed at the studio for health and safety reasons.
  • If you are feeling at all sick (cough, fever, etc), please contact us immediately to reschedule.
Tattoo Studio Etiquette
  • Do not come to the studio if you are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow if you need to cough or sneeze, in general.
  • Arrive on time to your appointment. If you are running a little late, please contact us to let us know that you are on your way.  If you do not arrive within 30 minutes of your scheduled start time, you will be considered a no-show and the appointment will be cancelled.
  • Do not bring children or pets to your appointment. Children and pets are not allowed in the studio for health and safety reasons.
  • Do not leave a child or pet in your car while getting tattooed. Please arrange for someone to look after them somewhere else during your appointment.
  • Please plan accordingly and only reschedule if you absolutely must. Cancelling or rescheduling at the last minute is a huge inconvenience to your artist as it can be difficult to fill an opening on short notice. If you must reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Be 100% sure about what you would like before booking your appointment.  The artist must approve a project before booking – this means your appointment and deposit are only for the project that was discussed at the time of booking.  If you have changed your mind about what you would like, do not wait until right before your appointment to let us know.  Contact us as soon as possible and we can discuss whether or not Rita is the right artist for the new project.
  • Do not make plans for right after your appointment as your appointment may take longer than expected. For best results, do not rush your artist.
  • Try to hold still. Please be mindful of your movements, such as gesturing with your hands, reaching for things or turning your head to look over your shoulder while getting tattooed. If you need to reposition yourself, please let your artist know first.
  • Be respectful of studio property, artists and their clients. Do not touch artwork or other people without permission.
  • Tipping is not required but always appreciated.  If you are unsure how much to tip your artist, 10-20% is standard for a personal service, but it can be whatever you feel comfortable with – all tips are appreciated.
